风越来越猛烈，吹折了树木，卷起了沙石。在一望无际的平原上它更加肆无忌惮，牛群本能地聚在一起，但无济于事，由于巨大的受风面，它们渐渐被吹到牧场的边缘，被栅栏挡住了去路。狂风并没有停止的意思，开始有牛被挤死，而后越来越多……不知过了多久，风小了。牛仔们出来一看，不禁惊呆了——大部分牛都被吹到了栅栏边，那里尸横遍地；有一小部分牛却截然不同，它们低着头朝着风吹来的方向站立着，最终活了下来。
