good afternoon, honorable judges, dear teachers & friends.

i'm lai senhan from the university of international business & economics. do you know what date is it today? today is the olympic date. i'm so glad to stand here today to share my idea about beijing olympic games together with you all. the title of my speech is: what can we do for beijing olympic games?

first of all, let me tell you a story that happened 2 years ago. at the end of august, 2019, when i decided to come to beijing for study, my friends hel* * rewell party for me. they said: after your graduation, you should look for a job in beijing, and then in 2019, we shall go to visit you during the olympic games. i laughed and answered: ok, no problem!

time flied and 2 years passed. now i am a graduate. my teachers and classmates always ask me: what's your plan after your graduation? go back home, stay in beijing, or go to some other places? and i always answer: i will stay in beijing. i make this decision not because of my promise to my friends 2 years ago, but because: i've fallen in love with beijing! i'm eager to welcome the coming olympic games together with my fellow countrymen, and i wish i could do something for the olympics & for the city.

as we know, beijing will host the 29th summer olympic games in 2019. as a chinese, i think many people are thinking: what we can do for beijing olympic games. most of us are not athletes, we cannot take part in competitions directly; we are not officials either, we don't need to do the preparatory work. we are only ordinary people, what we can do!

there are still so many things we can do! for example, for me, i am a graduate majoring business english. as far as i am concerned, i will keep on learning english hard, and apply for being a volunteer. i will use english to serve the games together with other volunteers. and also, as a businessman at that time, i will avail myself of the great commercial opportunities that the olympics brings to us, make more efforts to offer my contribution to the growth of our national economy.

and for all of us, with the goal to host a "green olympics", we shall plant more trees, grass & flowers. don't waste water. in order to alleviate the problems of air pollution & traffic congestions, we shall take buses & subways more. with the goal to host a "people's olympics", and in order to make our olympics more attractive and to make our beijing more beautiful, we shall help everyone we meet who needs help, we shall abide by traffic rules, don't smoke in public and no spitting. the most important way for our chinese to support our beijing olympic games, in my opinion, is to work hard on our duties.

as the saying goes,if you have great talents, industry will improve them;ifyou have but moderate abilities, industry will supply their deficiency.thissaying reflects the importance of diligence.the life of a lazy man is of no useto both himself and others.what’s worse, the man who is too lazy to work is morelikely to beg or steal.therefore, everyone should be diligent when he isyoung.

diligence is the key to be useful. "are frequently compensated with goodtraining, a hard points to", only diligent, can get good grades.

from my point of view, diligence is of great significance in one’s life andcareer.the story of hua luogeng is a case in point.hua luogeng is due to thediligence, to become a famous mathematician.hua luogeng in jintan county, homeis very poor in childhood, dropping out of school at home, very early to helphis father miscellaneous shop for a living, but he never give up the pursuit ofmathematics. at eight o 'clock every night, go home after good accounts, tostudy their favorite mathematics, often study late into the night. in this way,day after day, year after year's efforts, hua luogeng finally got a chance to,when in tsinghua university math department assistant, he is very cherish thehard-won learning opportunities, he like a duck to water, swam in the sea ofmathematics every day, give yourself only five or six hours of sleep time, it isreally hard to believe. hua luogeng even developed after lights out, also canthe habit of reading. he, of course, there is no specific function, is just akind of logical thinking activity of the mind. under the lamp, he took a bookand look at the topic to think for a moment, and turning in bed, close themeditation, start, to solve the problem in your mind run into difficulties, thenturn off the bed, open the book for a while. in this way, a book can see tendays, he you can finish it 2 days, otherwise can't sleep. hua luogeng who isconsidered the unusual assistant. after studying so hard to learn, later, becamea famous mathematician.for example, isaac newton was often laughed at by othersat primary school because of his poor performance in study, but he turned out tobe a great physicist through his persistent hard work.

we learn from hua luogeng, in the later study, should be hard work, hardwork, so as to achieve good results.

good morning, ladies and gentlemen:

today i'm very happy to be here to share with you some of my thoughts onthe topic of globalization. and first of all, i would like to mention an eventin our recent history.

thirty years ago, american president richard nixon made an epoch-makingvisit to china, a country still isolated at that time. premier zhou enlai saidto him, "your handshake came over the vastest ocean in the world - twenty-fiveyears of no communication." ever since then, china and america have exchangedmany handshakes of various kinds. the fundamental implication of this example isthat the need and desire to communicate across differences in culture andideology is not only felt by the two countries but by many other nations aswell.

as we can see today, environmentalists from different countries are makingjoint efforts to address the issue of global warming, economists are seekingsolutions to financial crises that rage in a particular region but nonethelesscripple the world's economy, and diplomats and politicians are getting togetherto discuss the issue of combating terrorism. peace and prosperity has become acommon goal that we are striving for all over the world. underlying this mightytrend of globalization is the echo of e. m. forster's words, "only connect!"

with the it revolution taking place, traditional boundaries of humansociety fall away. our culture, politics, society and commerce are being sloshedinto a large melting pot of humanity. in this interlinked world, there are nooutsiders, for a disturbance in one place is likely to impact other parts of theglobe. we have begun to realize that a world divided cannot endure.

china is now actively integrating into the world. our recent entry to thewto is a good example. for decades, we have taken pride in being self-reliant,but now we realize the importance of participating in and contributing to abroader economic order. from the precarious role in the world arena to ourpresent wto membership, we have come a long way.

but what does the way ahead look like? in some parts of the world peopleare demonstrating against globalization. are they justified then, in criticizingthe globalizing world? instead of narrowing the gap between the rich and thepoor, they say, globalization enables developed nations to swallow thedeveloping nations' wealth in debts and interest. globalization, they argue, should be about an earnest interest in every other nation's economic health.

we are reminded by karl marx that capital goes beyond national borders andeludes control from any other entity. this has become a reality. multinationalcorporations are seeking the lowest cost, the largest market, and the mostfavorable policy. they are often powerful lobbyists in governmentdecision-making, ruthless expansionists in the global market place and adevastating presence to local businesses.

for china, still more challenges exist. how are we going to ensure a smoothtransition from the planned economy to a market-based one? how to construct alegal system that is sound enough and broad enough to respond to the needs of adynamic society? how to maintain our cultural identity in an increasinglyhomogeneous world? and how to define greatness in our rise as a peace-lovingnation? globalization entails questions that concern us all.

like many young people my age in china, i want to see my country getprosperous and enjoying respect in the international community. but it seems tome that mere patriotism is not just enough. it is vitally important that weyoung people do more serious thinking and broaden our mind to bigger issues.and, there might never be easy answers to those issues such as globalization, but to take them on and give them honest thinking is the first step to beprepared for both opportunities and challenges coming our way. and this is alsoone of the thoughts that came to me while preparing this speech. thank you.

confidence, which is not only the faith in your abilities, but also the faith of pursuit of firm target in yourself, is the first secret of success. with it, you can go toward the shore of victory. when at a low ebb of the chinese revolution, mao zedong believed that "a single spark can start a prairie fire". chenyi believed "repeated action can not take off" he was confident. in short, self-confidence refers to the navigation towards victory, as is the driving force of progress.

inferior tends to look at the advantages of others too much, overweight, and this is a lack of understanding of their strengths. someone who has so heavy psychological pressure makes himself passive. inferior psychological barrier limits the development of ability, making them lose the chance of success, ultimately nothing. humble and out of the shadow, there must be sunny days ahead! in both the "thousand goddess of mercy" dancing miracle of the spotlight, the actors are in the faith and destiny of the strong, overcoming the inferiority, their performance won the audience's warm applause, deeply loved by people.

overcoming self-abased and developing confidence is our inevitable choice.

conceit and inferiority are extreme psychological. swellheads smug after some achievements, even defiant, arrogance. these people even had made some achievements, but it was just a flash in the pan. xiang yu in the struggle played a great role, but temporary military advantage made him blind. the results had been defeated by liu bang, the former hero. at last xiang yu committed suicide by wujiang river .

we want to believe in ourselves, but not conceited. i do not give up. choose confidence, overcome being self-abased, and being away from the ego, which is the requirement of the new century, and is the pursuit of perfect personality. "talk about heroes, you can find someone today", mao zedong was full of self-confidence, who will always inspire us to move forward.

good afternoon!

recently, ther is a heated debate in our society. the college students are the beneficiaries of a rare privilege, who receive exceptional education at extraordinary places. but will we be able to face the challenge and support ourselves against all odds? will we be able to better the lives of others? will we be able to accept the responsibility of building the future of our country?

the cynics say the college students are the pampered lost generation, which would cringe at the slightest discomfort. but the cynics are wrong. the college students i see are eagerly learning about how to live independently. we help each other clean the dormitory, go shopping and bargain together, and take part time jobs to supplement our pocket money.

the cynics say we care for nothing other than grades; and we neglect the need for character cultivation. but again, the cynics are wrong. we care deeply for each other, we cherish freedom, we treasure justice, and we seek truth. last week, thousands of my fellow students had their blood type tested in order to make a contribution for the children who suffer from blood cancer.

as college students, we are adolescents at the critical turning point in our lives. we all face a fundamental choice: cynicism or faith, each will profoundly impact our future, or even the future of our country. i believe in all my fellow classmates. though we are still inexperienced and even a little bit childish. i believe that we have the courage and faith to meet any challenge and take on our responsibilities. we are preparing to assume new responsibilities and tasks, and to use the education we have received to make our world a better place. i believe in our future.

口语角演讲稿篇6

there are many factors that can contribute to a personsquo;s success in life. whether he is at school or at work, a person is more likely to succeed if he is hard-working, honest, intelligent, responsible, and so on. but of all the possible characteristics that can affect onesquo;s success, i believe self-confidence to be the most important for the following reasons.

the first reason is that when a person has self-confidence he believes in himself. he believes that he can and will succeed, and this gives him the courage to try new things. in order to be successful we must be willing to take some risks, so having self-confidence is very important. another reason is that a confident person rarely gives up. when he fails he tries again and again until he wins. a final reason is that confident people are not afraid to show off their achievements. this is not to say that they should brag, but that they should gracefully and confidently accept the compliments of others. when their achievements are noticed more by others at school or work, they are more likely to succeed.

in short, i believe self-confidence to be the most important factor in success. it enables people to take risks, try again when they fail, and enjoy their accomplishments when they win. with these abilities, a confident person can succeed easily at school or work.

the east and the west, letsquo;s enjoy the combination of the two cultures?

kipling said:east is east, and west is west, and never the twain shall meet! but now, a century later, they have met.

they have met in business. they have met in education. they have met in the arts. some people will argue that these meetings will leave us with a choice between east and west, but i believe that the best future lies in the creative combination of both worlds. we can make western ideas, customs and technology our own, and adapt them to our own use. we can enjoy the best of both worlds, because our tradition is, above all, one of selecting the best and making it our own.

i love beijing and hennan opera because it always reminds me of who i am. but i am also a fan of pop music, especially english songs. so i have combined eastern melody with western language. it is called western henna opera.

when two cultures meet, there may be things in one culture, which do not fit into the tradition of the other. when this happens, we need to learn to understand and respect the customs of another culture. then there are certain things some people may not like. to this, i will say, if you do not like it, please try to tolerate it. to learn to tolerate what you personally donsquo;t like is a great virtue at a time when different cultures mix and merge. before us, there are two rivers, eastern and western cultures. at present, they may run in different courses. but eventually, they will converge into the vast sea of human culture.

right now, i can see peoples of eastern and western cultures, standing side by side, singing the olympic theme song: we are hand in hand, heart to heart, together we will shape a beautiful tomorrow! thank you!

口语角演讲稿篇8

honorable judges, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen:

it is a great honor and pleasure to be here on this beautiful saturday morning to share with you my sentiments about life and passion for the english language.

about a year and a half ago, i took part in my very first english speech contest. when i stood before the microphone with all eyes starring directly at me, i could hardly speak. i stood there, embarrassed and helpless, struggling in vain for the right thing to say. my fears had paralyzed me.

while my passion for english has never changed, i lost my courage to speak in public. when my professor again encouraged me to take part in this competition, i said “no.” i couldn’t endure yet another painful experience. he looked me straight in the eye and said something that pierced my heart. i will never forget his words. “look,” he said, “we all have our fears, and you have yours. you could twist your ankle in a basketball game, but then be afraid to ever play again. running away can never dispel your fears, but action will. a winner is not one who never fails, but one who never quits.”

i spent a whole day with his words twisting and turning in my mind. then i made the bravest and wisest decision of my life: i would face my fears – and take part in the competition!

as it turned out, my dear old professor was right. now, here i am, once again standing before a microphone. my heart is beating fast, and my mouth is dry, but most importantly, i have faced my fears -- and that makes all the difference!

thank you.
